Jumping

Ah, the dreaded box jump,  that pesky jump rope and of course the lateral jump are all movements we must continue to practice.  I can’t tell you how many people look at me dazed when I say we are going to jump rope.  Most people look at me and say they haven’t jumped rope in 40 years and some of my athletes have never jumped rope at all.  Jumping is a movement that requires explosive hips and coordination and will directly translate to our clean, jerks and hang power cleans.  We are going to start small so don’t worry and gradually increase the height of the boxes as your body gets more accustomed to the movement.  Simply put, if we don’t work on some type of jumping movement we will lose it forever.  Set your frame of mind and let’s get hopping!

 

Strength:  Back Squat

Aux work between sets:  Jump rope 20 jumps b/w each set

WOD:  4 Rounds

10 box jumps

10 wall balls

10 push-ups
