Looking Back

Yesterday was the first day of the CrossFit Games for Masters and Teens. Looking at the workouts and watching my age group actually compete reminded me how far I have come since I first watched the Games 4 years ago. Back then, I couldn’t even fathom  doing what the oldest age group did much less my own group. Yesterday as I watched several women I have competed with before work through the Long Chipper workout at the Games, I realized that I could actually do everything they were doing. I might be slower, but I am physically able to do all of it. 4 years ago I couldn’t do a pullup. Today, I can do the chest-to-bar pullups in that Long Chipper workout. Sometimes it’s good to look back and see how far we have come. It reminds us that sometimes when progress feels slow or stalled, we need to be patient. Good things tend to take time so be patient with yourself, look back and appreciate everything you have gained. Then get back to work on those things that still elude you…like muscle ups.
